A job that becomes a game! In the period of the new oil, OL.MA. starts a new project in the schools: “L’olio secondo me” (The oil in my opinion).The goal is to introduce children into the world of olive growing, let them know inside their school environment an important resource of our territory, the resource of olive trees and production of extra virgin olive oil. At the beginning of the new school year, thanks to the collaboration and passion of the teachers of the schools in the area of Roccastrada, OL.MA, under the passionate direction of Gerardo Calabassi, asked the children of primary and secondary schools to comment the olive oil culture and the extra virgin olive oil as a product so rich in history and belonging. The result is a team work that produced dozens of drawings and thoughts which show a pure and simple vision of this fruit, of trees and of the traditional harvest.
Along with the educational mission, OL.MA chose to carry out this project by selecting two drawings and realizing real labels to put on the bottles of extra virgin olive oil produced only with olives picked in the fields of “Usi Civici di Sticciano Scalo”. Part of the profit obtained by selling this product line will be devoted to the purchase of stationery for the classrooms involved, material that children have earned working on the project. A small contribution will be used to renew the regular child sponsorship that OL.MA employees have been carrying on for years with the project "Save the Children".All the drawings of the children will be entrusted to the "Studio Kalimero" to be collected in a calendar with pictures and thoughts for the year 2017. A calendar that will remember us for 365 days of this important and precious team work. These will be soon available and bottles in limited edition can be bought at the store of OL.MA by whom wish to make a contribution! regarding the material (graphic and not) received on approval, I repeat that in assessing the children work and creations it’s common meeting a range of very varied difficulties and each of them should be awarded. Said that, I have been given the difficult task to choose two drawings and I did it based not just on my personal experience but on different methods of analysis in relation to the different ages of children.
- For primary schools, I enhanced the visual impact and immediacy of the message transmitted by the student.
In the drawing selected by me, there are all the elements that contribute to the life, earth, trees, leaves, olives, sky, clouds and the sun that make it possible. Sun is represented with the natural colour for children, yellow, as well as the two arms, again yellow, which give rise to the oil…finally the oil and its tank.
- For secondary schools, in addition to the features mentioned above, I have considered some technical skills in drawing and even a minimal skill in searching the colours and their approach to the topic.
There’s also a good graphic layout and the message arrives direct and unequivocal.
I confirm that I was very impressed by the creativity of all the children and I’d like to ask you to pass my compliments to the teachers because the active participation of the students shows the good work they’re doing.
